Preschool Promise

HELP is a proud Preschool Promise provider.

Preschool Promise is established state investment in publicly funded preschools. It funds more high-quality preschool options for families who haven’t had them before.

Low-income children and children of color are less likely to have the chance to attend a high-quality preschool—so they’re often less prepared for success in school and life. That’s why ELM invests Preschool Promise funds in programs that serve children of color, implement culturally relevant practices, and prioritize family engagement. It is the intent that Preschool Promise enrollment not be first-come first-served, to support our equity goals to focus public funding towards communities that have been historically under-served and those who may have not had ready access to services.

Teacher Ru

IMG_5931.jpg

With 10+ years of experience in the building doing everything from grocery shopping to being on field trips to running the distance learning school-age program, Ru is excited for the opportunity to help the visions for HELP-PDX come to fruition.

Education has always been her focus, as she knew at a very young age that she wanted to be a teacher. While she spends less time in classrooms now, she still finds opportunities to connect with the children in the center.

She spends much of her free time adventuring with her dogs, Remi and Tillie, visiting estate sales and thrift stores, and spending quality time with her family. She also has a space at an antique store at the coast that she shares with her mom.
